Cats Were Only the Beginning

Hello!

A few posts back, I showed you some pictures of my cat, Shadow. But ladies and gents, I could not stop there. I had to post pictures of my dog. Admittedly, Dixie the Dog's black fur does make her less photogenic, but she is a hilarious dog and my best friend. And with that being said, I give you part two of my pets.

Rained On

Bright Eyes

Snuggly

Spying on Chickens

Spazzing Out in the Grass

Recently Dixie developed a liking for Havarti cheese, and moans when we stop giving it to her.

Yes you can haz cheese, Dixie.

Hope you have a magical New Years Eve and an amazing New Year!

Around the House

Hello!

Sometimes we forget about the beauty of the simple things around us. That's why I try to take some photos of some items around my house that may seem ordinary, but when photographed the right way can be quite beautiful.

Vintage Piano

A Flower from a Friend

Threads

Gatsby Hat

Today instead of writing a long commentary with each photo, I simply titled each of them, allowing the reader to form his/her own opinions about a picture. If you prefer a specific way, let me know in the comments!

Hope you're having an excellent day!

The Red Rocks of Sedona

Hello, hello!

This past summer I went on vacation in Arizona, travelling from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon, with some stops along the way. Sedona was one of the stops. It is such a stunning place, I highly recommend going there if you are in Arizona. Of course I took some pictures:

This is one of the famous red rocks of Sedona. This one is more tan than some of the others, but nonetheless it is amazing and none of the pictures I've seen (mine or others) do the landscape justice. It is even better in person.

This was taken on a jeep ride up the mountains. I think it is so incredible to be able to see millions of years of history in the layers of rock and soil here. If you look at the mountainsides, you can see lines running parallel to each other, and it is so magnificent.

I like this picture because it captures most of the rocks, and the sky is just lovely. The rocks can be a bit redundant in pictures, but angles and lighting can help to vary the outcome of the pictures.

While I was in Arizona, I developed an obsession with tortilla soup. At home I had a hard time finding it until I discovered that Campbell's made a tortilla soup. Microwaveable and all. Hallelujah for mass soup companies! There's also lots of recipes for it on Pinterest as well, in case you feel like putting in extra effort. Highly recommend.

Hope you're having a stupendous day!

I Could Be a Crazy Cat Lady

Hello, lovelies!

So I have a cat. And I have a camera. And this often results in mini photo sessions...with my cat. It sounds like a strange hobby, but these pictures are proof that cats can make good photo subjects. I present you with: Shadow, the cat model.

Shadow loves looking out the window at squirrels which means: that's right, I get to take pictures of her very intriguing eyeballs.

Although the colors were not changed very much using a black and white setting (Shadow being a grey cat), the b&w setting on my camera helps enhance the details in a picture. Shadow has already added the diva element.

This was an accidental success. Most blurry photos are just that: blurry. But I rather like the blurriness of this picture, somehow it looks elegant instead of sloppy.

I really liked the angle of this picture, I feel like it changes this little house cat into some kind of majestic lioness. I also love that you can see all the little hairs on Shadow's paws.

This last one is not meant to be artistic or fancy, only capturing a hilarious moment. I was trying to put clean sheets on my bed when Shadow decided she had to start playing in the sheets. This was taken after she finally discovered the mysterious path out of the sheets.

I just really like my cat. Maybe too much.

In case you weren't aware: If you'd like to enlarge a picture, you can simply click on the pictures and they will become full size. Helpful if you want to see more details in a picture.

Hope you're having a fantastic day!

An Introduction: A la Plage

Hello! As my first blog post, I'll do a short introduction: I'm Sally, and I love taking pictures, so I've decided to start blogging about them. Thus far, I am improvising this whole blogging scheme, but hopefully the quality of the blogs will improve with time. My main goal is to share the pictures that I take, somewhat of a creative outlet for me. I sincerely hope this turns out to be a mutual enjoyment thing.

These pictures are from a trip to Ocean Isle Beach a few months ago:

This was taken around the grassy parts of the beach. These plants were fluttering in the wind and I was lucky to get a clear shot when they were moving so much.

The trip was in October, and the leaves were starting to change, as seen in the picture above. There were tiny snail shells (I think they were, at least) hanging onto the leaves.

It was cloudy that day, and I love that this picture captures the puffy, dark clouds and the waves of the ocean. The clouds give the picture a stormier feel, making the waves seem bigger and angrier when in reality, they were nothing out of the ordinary.

This may not be the most creatively angled or strangely lit picture, but I simply appreciate that I was able to capture the birds flying by the shore.

Well, these were my favorite pictures from that trip! I hope to post more pictures soon, and I hope you're having a great day!
